Our Netball Team Get A Beating

SINGAPORE: Malaysia’s campaign in the World Netball Championship came to a shattering end when they were pulverised 94-22 by England in their final Group D match at the Indoor Stadium here yesterday.

The Malaysians had earlier lost to Barbados 40-62 and Malawi 35-66.

“For Malaysia, the reality is that the opposing teams were just too good and too strong for us. We are still miles away from them. And the painful truth is that if we continue to play like this, we will never be able to get close to the world class teams,” said coach Choo Kon Lee.

Tough For Our Netball Team In Singapore

SINGAPORE: Malaysia will have a mountain to climb at the World Netball Championship, which begins at the Indoor Stadium here today.

The draw for the 16-team championship has put Malaysia in Group D with England, Malawi and Barbados.

England and the south east African nation of Malawi were the top five countries in the previous championship held in New Zealand four years ago. Barbados made it to Singapore as a qualifier from the Americas and Caribbean region.

The top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarter-finals and Malaysia are certainly nowhere near the elites of world netball.
